New Wooten bike lanes make safer neighborhood connections
Exciting news for bike riders, especially those in eastern Colorado Springs! New bike lanes have been added to Wooten Road from Platte Avenue north to Palmer Park Blvd making for safer neighborhood and trail connections on the east side of the city.
These dedicated bike lanes provide a safer and more comfortable route for cyclists, encouraging more people to choose biking as a mode of transportation.
The new bike lanes create a valuable north/south connection between the popular Rock Island Trail and Sand Creek Trail. Combined with the recently completed Canyon Wren neighborhood trail, cyclists now have a safer and more convenient way to travel between these two major trails.

Be aware of on-going construction

- Galley Bridge is being replaced – Trail crossing signal to be added
- Homestead Trail south of Murray is closed for Galley bridge construction
- Rock Island trail connection to Wooten is closed for construction (pictured here)
While exploring the new bike lanes I documented the progress of the Rock Island trail crossing at Murray. This is one of the four trail crossing projects that we shared earlier that is expected to be completed this year.
