Become a certified Bicycle-Friendly Driver!

With the help of Bike Colorado Springs volunteers, we welcome our state wide bicycle advocacy organization to town to help improve the safety on our roadway for both bicyclists and motorists. Bicycle Colorado’s Bicycle-Friendly Driver program is designed to teach all drivers the best ways to share the road with people on bicycles. This 1.5-hour, interactive class covers the following topics ranging from common crashes between motorists and bicyclists to what is legal and illegal behavior for motorists and bicyclists. Upon successful completion of the class, participants will receive a Bicycle-Friendly Driver certificate and sticker to display on their vehicle.

Auto-Friendly Bicyclist Course

This program is designed to teach people who ride bicycles best practices for sharing the road with drivers. This course will benefit all people who ride bicycles with any background or skill level.

This 1.5-hour, interactive class covers the topics ranging from common crashes between motorists and bicyclists to what is legal and illegal behavior for motorists and bicyclists. We also cover how to navigate on-street bicycle infrastructure, why sharing the road is the safest option for all road users and what we teach motorists in our Bicycle friendly drivers course. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an Auto-Friendly Bicyclist certificate and sticker to display on their bicycle.

Bicycle-Friendly Driver and Auto-Friendly Bicyclist Train the Trainer

We are looking to build our Bike Colorado Springs lead Bicycle-Friendly Driver or Auto-Friendly Bicyclist courses. We at BCS are looking to improve safety throughout our region and believe that our own group of trainers is a great way to educate our community.

This course is appropriate for people in Southern Colorado who are in a position to give the BFD/AFB training to groups of people over time. We are looking for trainers from all backgrounds including city staff, business representatives, or other community leaders for this training.
