World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims 2022
Colorado Springs World Day of Remembrance is marked with local traffic fatalities reaching an unfortunate milestone of 52 deaths in 2022, already surpassing our previous record set in 2020 of 51 deaths. We are saddened by the tragic weekend we’ve had with the shooting at the Club Q but still thought that it was appropriate to bring awareness to those who’ve died on roads as today is 2022 World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
While we’re mentioning those killed by traffic violence in our city many more people have sustained life changing injuries on our roads.
Lets not use this time to be afraid of riding on our roads but as a time for action:
- Remember all people killed and seriously injured on the roads
Dick Timberlake Memorial Ride – Pete Beim Memorial Ride - Advocate to city, county and state officials to build safer infrastructure
- draw attention to less than adequate legal responses to culpable road deaths and injuries and advocate for an appropriately serious response
Lets celebrate the lives of those lost not by putting away our bikes but bike being out there, leading by example, using the beautiful trail network we have, celebrating the access we do have in our and doing everything we can to make it safer and better.
