The Bike COS Newsletter is Back – For Real This Time
If you’ve been riding around Colorado Springs for a while, you might remember getting a Bike COS Newsletter… once upon a time. It’s been a minute. Okay, it’s been years. But we’re going to try to keep it up this time.
Sign up for the Bike COS newsletter here so you don’t miss what’s next, then keep reading for what you’ve already missed.
In the last two weeks, we’ve sent out two newsletters covering things that actually matter for anyone who rides, walks, or just wants to get around this city a little more safely:
The Draft Colorado Springs Parks System Masterplan — a once-a-decade planning document that will shape trails, parks, and connectivity for the next 10+ years. We flagged the in-person engagement windows (most of them just days after the plan dropped) so our community had a real chance to show up and be heard.
The Bike Streets 500 Trip Challenge — our push to get 500 transportation trips logged on the Bike Streets app this month, plus the news that Strava integration is finally live. If you’re already tracking rides on Strava, your commutes can now count automatically.
This is the kind of stuff that’s easy to miss if you’re only catching us on social media. The newsletter is where we put the details that need more than a caption: dates, links, deadlines, and the “here’s exactly what to do” info that turns good intentions into actual advocacy.
And that’s just the latest issue. Our first newsletter back covered plenty you won’t want to have missed either:
- Motorless Morning is back one last time in 2026 — Garden of the Gods closes to vehicle traffic on Sunday, October 4, and we’re looking for volunteers to help with event operations, table advocacy, and route guidance.
- Rock Island Trail is extending east of Powers Blvd — a major connectivity upgrade for neighbors east of Powers that’s just the beginning for connecting a corridor that’s been part of Colorado Springs’ backbone for decades.
- Three trail crossings just got safer — Rock Island Trail at T-Gap Road, Briargate Trail at Meadow Ridge Dr, and Woodman Trail at Lexington Dr all recently saw improvements, with more of the city’s eight planned crossing upgrades still in progress.
- A recap of the August Smart Cycling Skills Class, hosted with our partners at PacManitou, covering bike handling, road positioning, and lane positioning for safer riding.
- An open invite to ride leaders — if you organize a group ride, club outing, or neighborhood cruise, we want to join and help spread the word. If this is you get in touch here.
We’re aiming to make this a regular thing again, not sporadic, and not just when something’s on fire. If you want to stay looped in on Colorado Springs bike infrastructure, upcoming rides, and ways to make your voice heard on things like the Parks Masterplan, subscribing above is the easiest way to do it.
If you want to see what you’ve been missing, here are the two most recent issues:
- Sept 8 – Draft Parks Masterplan & Bike Streets update
- Sept 1 – Our first newsletter back
Know someone who rides in Colorado Springs and isn’t already subscribed? Forward this along or send them the signup link. The more people in the loop, the louder our voice is when it counts.
