Buffalo Lodge 10 Year Anniversary

Ten Years of the Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort

Torie Giffin, owner of the Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort and big supporter of bicycling in Colorado Springs, celebrated the 10th anniversary of her resort on June 13, 2026. And it wouldn’t have been a Torie-ific celebration if she didn’t invite the whole community along with her for the ride.

Abridged Backstory

I met Torie sometime around 2012 or so when she was doing marketing for the Chick-fil-A on Garden of the Gods and she started a Saturday group ride there. Several people riding with me on the Cafe Velo Friday evening rides also rode on Saturdays at Chick-fil-A, so I checked it out. (The free snack after the ride was certainly a bonus!) I saw how welcoming she was to cyclists and wanted to make all riders comfortable.

As I got to know her better and her passion for creating community, I helped out where I could, such as setting up competitive Strava segments for her for the Patriots’ Festival ride. I know she also was a part of the Buena Vista Bike Fest organized by Colorado Springs Cycling back in the day. I have seen her support for local bike clubs, bicycling charities, and really any group that loves to pedal. Simply put, Torie excels at bringing people together on bikes.

It has been amazing to both watch and be a part of her bicycling vision for Colorado Springs. Listen to her share the story on the Pedal the Springs podcast – another of the many things she’s done to support cycling in the Springs. About the Buffalo Lodge

“In 2016 Torie took ownership of the iconic and historic Buffalo Lodge property, built in 1919 and once touted as “Colorado’s Most Modern Cottage City,” to transform it into the Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort. The lodge now boasts bicycle-themed and friendly rooms and a host of activities and amenities geared to cyclists. The property renovations have been extensive and while there is much work still to be done, the concept worked and the Lodge is now the go to place for cyclists visiting, riding and racing in the Springs and hosts and sponsors numerous rides and races throughout the year.”

The Saturday Ride

As part of the anniversary celebration, the Saturday Buffalo Lodge Bike Tribe ride, which usually splits into two groups based on pace, was a single, large group riding a 15-mile loop of the city. Over 70 cyclists joined in on the ride. After an emotional welcome by Torie, we were given a route briefing by Michael Rosell, the regular Saturday ride leader. Then we were off at a “party pace,” enjoying each other’s company and of course the beautiful views this city provides.

After the ride, the anniversary festivities were just starting. I was able to return later that evening for the free concert by Paradise Cove. Torie’s bicycling vision for Colorado Springs doesn’t end with her work at the Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort, so I am very excited to see what comes next.
