Road Closure
Colorado Springs Utilities has informed us that they will be working on the Yampa Electric Sub-station located at 959 Glen Ave. just east of I-25 and Uintah St. and west of Monument Creek. This work will involve periodic road closures. Below is the full text and contact information for this construction work.

To meet the community’s needs for safe and reliable electric transmission, Colorado Springs Utilities will be modifying our Yampa Electric Sub-station, located 959 Glen Ave., just east of I-25, south of W. Unitah St., and west of Monument Creek. Colorado Springs Utilities will be decommissioning one circuit line and upgrading additional equipment.
The work will include new fence construction and crane operation for equipment removal. The work schedule for the next few weeks will include temporary road closures along Glen Ave., from Mesa Rd., south of the substation.
What Can You Expect:
- Glen Ave., closed from Mesa Rd. south toward Uintah St., the week of April 18, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Glen Ave. will be closed temporarily on May 2 or 3, 10, and 11, as crews must remove a transformer, switch and lattice work from the substation.
- A crane will be on-site to help remove some of the heavy equipment.
- Road closures are expected from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each of those days.
While, you shouldn’t experience any loss of power, we encourage everyone to be mindful around construction activity exercise caution.
