A major repaving project starts August 2025 and the short closure at the I-25 underpass (July 7–10) will allow for final wall construction. Learn about detours, timelines, and long-term improvements—plus future projects like the Centennial Underpass reconstruction.

🛠 Sinton Trail Repaving
(August – Fall 2025)

Project Start delayed until August 2025. The Sinton Trail between Chestnut St. and Holland Park will close for approximately three months starting in August. This current project is funded by voter approved PPRTA 2 funds, City Sinton Trail project website linked here.

Improvements Coming:

  • New Surface: Upgrading from asphalt to more durable concrete
  • Fixes: Eliminating the problematic dip and uneven pavement near Chestnut (goodbye to that awkward dip under the pipe!)
  • Alignment: Smoother curves and better sight lines
  • Drainage: drainage and grade improvements along the whole trail
  • Chestnut Underpass Access Paving: Concrete for the access to the underpass under Chestnut where gravel is now

Future Phases:

Holland Park to Centennial – Trail will be addressed during a planned stormwater, timeline depends on FEMA funding.
Centennial to GoG Road – be dependent on funding availability, but likely PPRTA 3 dollars, since other corridors are being addressed.

We’ll share timelines when available.

Future Future Project: The Centennial Underpass reconstruction approved by voters as part of PPRTA 3 is still in planning stages – more details coming.

Project Start delayed until August pending required permits. The Sinton Trail between Chestnut St. and Holland Park will close for approximately three months starting August 19th.

🚴 Rider Tips for Summer Closures

  1. Check COS Parks social media (Instagram/Facebook) for last-minute updates
  2. Try alternate routes – early to find your best option (interactive closure/detour map)
  3. Allow extra time – especially for commutes during closure periods

We’ll update this post as we receive more details from the city. While these closures are inconvenient, they’ll result in much better trail infrastructure for years to come!
