I-25 Sinton Trail Project Wraps Up

Trail users in North-West Colorado springs have something the celebrate; CDOT’s I-25 acceleration/deceleration lane project now complete and the repaved Sinton Trail under I-25 is officially fully open to trail traffic.

Updates for Sinton Trail Users

  • Chestnut Crosswalk Update: Note that the temporary Stop sign at the crosswalk has now been removed. Please continue to exercise caution when navigating street intersections.
  • Newly Paved Trail: there are now newly paved trails on both the North and south side of Ellston Street under I25

Connection under Chestnut still to get paved

The gravel underpass beneath Chestnut Street has also reopened. The west side of the trail connecting to the underpass was repaved during the Sinton Trail reconstruction in 2025. While we expect the eastern connection to be paved in concrete in the near future, it remains gravel for the time being. We are currently checking with the City to confirm a firm timeline for that final paved section.

A Huge Thanks to Representative Steph Vigil

We want to extend a sincere thank you to former State Representative Steph Vigil for her dedicated advocacy throughout this project. Initially, CDOT planned to close this critical trail connection for the full two-year construction duration. Thanks to her intervention and work with CDOT, the trail remained open and accessible for the majority of the construction period.
