Oct 26 Mesa Bridge

West Side Greenway Trail Closed Oct 12 for Mesa Bridge Work

Starting Monday, October 12, Parts of the Westside of the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail crossing Mesa Rd will close for up to 4 weeks so crews can hoist concrete deck panels into place on the historic Cache La Poudre/Mesa Road Bridge. Closure barricades will be set up at the Duck Pond to the north and near the pickleball courts to the south.

Navigating Around the Work Zone

East Side Greenway Trail (Primary Detour):

  • Southbound riders: Cross Monument Creek via the Uintah Street bridge to connect to the eastern leg of the Greenway Trail.
  • Northbound riders: Cross Monument Creek using the pedestrian bridge near the south end of the park to access the eastern leg.
  • Note: The east side trail remains open during work, with the existing short pedestrian detour still in place.

West Side / I-25 Detour Option:

  • If your ride starts west of I-25, using the Mesa Springs Greenway to Centennial is a good alternative detour option (keep in mind this requires crossing Uintah St).

Park Access & Overall Timeline

Monument Valley Park, the I-25 pedestrian bridge, and the pickleball courts will remain open throughout the trail closure. If you are driving into the park to visit the pickleball courts or the Horticultural Art Society Gardens, enter via Glen Avenue, where a small section of trail remains open for local access.

While this specific trail closure is set for 4 weeks (wrapping up in early November), full bridge construction is expected to continue for approximately four months, with overall project completion targeted for early next year.
