Everything You Need to Know to Start Cycling Safely in Colorado Springs
Bike COS will offer a Free Cycling Basics 101 class Saturday, October 7th from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Manitou Art Center (MAC) Community Room. This 4 hour class consists of both classroom and on bike component. Learn more about what we’ve covered in previous Cycling Basics 101 classes here.

What what we cover
The ABC Quick Check to make sure your bike is ready to ride, the basics of riding in a group, multiuse trail etiquette, and how to navigate our roadways safely. More advanced concepts are also covered such as how to avoid the most common crashes.
On-bike session will address basics such as how to work your drive-train/gears as well as practing safe riding techniques
What to bring
Bring your bike, helmet, water, snacks & sign our ride waiver. PikeRide bikes are available to rent from Hiawatha Gardens, we recommend the 24Hr pass so you are able to use the bike through the how on bike portion of the class.
How to Get there
If driving there is free parking at Schryver Park/Manitou Pool and Fitness Center parking lot then people can and bike up to the MAC. Or, use paid parking either at Hiawatha Gardens or the reverse angled parking across from MAC building Manitou Art Center on Google Maps
If Biking the Midland trail will get you into Manitou Springs where you can connect to El Paso Blvd to finish your trip Google Biking Directions
Public Transit Mountain Metro Transit has the #3 Colorado Ave bus which stops at Hiawatha Gardens a 3 minute walk from the MAC Google Transit Directions

11AM-1PM On-bike portion – Creekwalk/trail/ball fields
We will bike together over to Fields Park/Creek Walk Trail for some low-key practice
